Atty. Danny Co is the Founding Partner of the Firm. He obtained his Political Science (1969) and Law (1973) degrees from the University of the Philippines and is a member of the New York Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
He has extensive experience in representing our Clients in various civil and criminal litigation in all levels of judicial proceedings before the courts and other quasi-judicial and administrative government agencies, including the Philippine Supreme Court. Atty. Co also heads the Firm's Labor Law Division and appears regularly before the National Labor Relations Commission where he has prosecuted and defended various clients in labor-related disputes.
Atty. Co advises our Clients on the various aspects of real estate transactions, including risk-management for all parties, comprehensive title verifications, various modes of acquiring real property, co-ownership, title subdivision and consolidation, tax-efficient methodologies, drafting of the necessary contracts, extrajudicial settlement of estates, inheritance issues, and other related matters. He also handles the transfer of the legal title over real property, which includes the payment of the proper taxes with the tax authorities, the release of the tax clearances, and the coordination with the local government offices and the register of deeds, for the issuance of the new titles.
Atty. Co rendered public service as an elected Member of the Municipal Council of San Juan, Metro Manila from 1988 to 1992.
Atty. Henry Co is the Firm's Managing Partner. He obtained his law degree from the University of the Philippines in 1994. He also has a B.S. Business Administration degree, cum laude, from the same University.
Atty. Co is a Director and/or Corporate Secretary of several Philippine corporations.
His expertise in Corporate and Contracts Laws has allowed the Firm to formulate critical strategies for our clients on matters involving foreign investments, corporate registrations of both local and offshore companies, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, shareholders' agreements, securities laws, corporate restructuring, initial public offerings and public rights offerings, and other commercial transactions. Close coordination with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Philippine Stock Exchange has enabled our Firm to provide the legal support needed by local and foreign investors.
His experience with publicly listed companies include the initial public offering of a securities brokerage firm in 2003; engagement as legal counsel for the underwriters for a rights offering of a listed company in 2004; engagement as legal counsel for the proposed public rights offering of a mining /IT company in 2004; and the 2005 acquisition of a listed company, as transactional lawyer for both the seller and buyer. He acted as legal counsel in 2006 for the public listing of a business process oursourcing company; in 2008, he acted as counsel for the issuer for the additional public offering of shares.
Atty. Co is also a speaker on Updates on Philippine Corporate Law in the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education program of the Supreme Court.
He heads the Firm's Intellectual Property Division successfully registering and protecting our client's trademarks, patents and 黃色带三级a级 Copyrights, as well as having pursued legal actions against persons violating our Client's Intellectual Property Rights.
Also a litigation lawyer, Atty. Co pursues our client's claims and defends their rights in courts of law.
An Associate Professorial Lecturer at Kalayaan College, Atty. Co currently teaches Business Transactions Law to Business Administration Majors. Atty. Co rendered public service from 1988 to 1994 as an elected Punong Barangay of Greenhills, a major commercial and residential area in Metro Manila.
One of the Firm's Senior Partners, Atty. Aza Ang-Co obtained her law degree from the University of the Philippines in 1994 and was a member of the Order of the Purple Feather, an honors society in the U.P. College of Law. She graduated with a degree in B.S. Computer Science from the Ateneo de Manila. She is the Firm's resident tax expert.
In line with existing tax laws and regulations, she structures various commercial and real estate transactions to ensure tax efficient results for our Clients. She serves as a Member of the Tax Committee of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, the only legislated organization of Philippine lawyers.
She likewise provides personal tax advise on estate planning for our individual Clientele and obtains official confirmations of the Firm's tax plans from the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue whenever advisable.
Atty. Ang-Co directly handles the Firm's international registrations of patents under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
Atty. Ang-Co also advises our Clients on insolvency, rehabilitation and suspension of payments, and is currently serving as a court-appointed rehabilitation receiver of a distressed real estate company. Legal actions pertaining to Family Law, including petitions for adoption by local and foreign clients, are handled by her. Taking into consideration tax implications, our Firm also provides services relating to the disposition of properties to legal heirs, including the drafting of wills where appropriate.
She also heads the Firm's Immigration Law Division which assists our corporate clients obtain the necessary Philippine visas and work permits for their expatriates.
With her knowledge of the intricacies of government procurement laws and public bidding, Atty. Ang-Co served as legal consultant on Bids and Awards of the Philippine Department of National Defense in 2006.
Atty. Angeli Ferrer graduated from the U.P. College of Law in 1993 and became a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines upon passing the bar in March 1994. She also earned her B.S. Psychology degree, cum laude, from the same University in 1989.
As head of the Firm’s real estate development practice, Atty. Ferrer competently provides legal assistance in all aspects of real estate development – from due diligence, land acquisition and development to marketing, leasing and sales of various real estate products. Her extensive experience in taxation, commercial and corporate law allows her to provide wholistic solutions to various legal issues arising in commercial transactions such as project financing, corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. She also handles estate and tax planning for families and individuals.
Atty. Ferrer is legal counsel for leading real estate developers in the country, providing them with proactive and strategic advice on their real estate projects located within the country’s major financial hubs, particularly, in Makati Central Business District, Ortigas Center Business District, Bonifacio Global City, and Filinvest Corporate City. Projects handled outside of Metro Manila include resort and residential developments in Bataan, Batangas, Boracay and Palawan.
From 2008 to 2009, Atty. Ferrer acted as legal consultant of the Urban Triangle Development Commission which was organized pursuant to Executive Order No. 620 promulgated by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to formulate, plan, and implement a development program for a strategic 250-hectare area in Quezon City to transform it into an integrated, urban development model that will comprise the Quezon City Central Business District.
Atty. Jihan Merrera-Gonzales has extensive experience in both corporate law and litigation.
As a Partner in the Firm, she handles our Client's corporate requirements, including those related to equity restructuring, nationality restrictions, immigration and work permit requirements, payment of taxes on issuances and transfers of shares of stock, Bureau of Internal Revenue registrations, and the procurement of local and national permits. She has likewise conducted external and internal Legal Due Diligence Audits. She also coordinates with the Philippine Stock Exchange in connection with the requirements of the Firm's publicly listed clients.
As Corporate Secretary to the Firm's corporate clients, she provides critical legal advise on the legal framework relating to the conduct of their business operations and financial affairs; she also performs direct oversight over meetings of the Board of Directors and Stockholders.
Atty. Merrera-Gonzales' knowledge of Civil, Criminal, Labor Law and Private Internaltional Law has enabled her to protect our Clients' rights and interests, both as plaintiffs and defendants. She also represents our clients with respect to Family Law, particularly those involving adoption, guardianship proceedings and annulment of marriage.
She is also proficient with Intellectual Property Law and assists our Clients in the registration of their trademarks in the Philippines, in addressing the concerns of the Intellectual Property Office regarding the registrability of certain trademarks and in pursuing legal action against those who infringe on our clients' intellectual property rights.
She rendered public service as part of the Philippine Civil Service Commission in 2005. Atty. Merrera-Gonzales obtained her law degree from the Arellano University School of Law.
Atty. Ma. Salve Aure M. Carillo obtained her degrees in Law and B.A. Political Science, cum laude, from the University of Santo Tomas. She represents the Firm's clients on matters relating to business claims, labor laws and corporate registrations.
Atty. Pauline Kaye Y. de Vera obtained her degrees in Law and B.S. Legal Management, from the San Beda College of Law. She represents the Firm's clients on matters relating to taxation, contracts and labor laws.
Ms. Sydney Guadalupe obtained her degrees in Law and B.S. Business Administration, from the San Beda University. She provides assistance to the Firm's partners on taxation, contracts and family law. She is currently preparing for the 2018 bar exams.
Ms. Michelle Lae A. Velasco obtained her Juris Doctor and Masters in Business Administration from the Far East University-De La Salle University Joint Program. She provides assistance to the Firm's partners on board matters, contracts and civil law. She is currently preparing for the 2018 bar exams.
